Parallel Join Project and Stream Processing
Data Warehouses contain large amounts of data from different independent sources for the support of On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) queries. This kind of environment requires the use of parallel systems to speed up the processing of such expensive queries. Our research project focuses on finding new strategies oriented to improve the performance of DBMSs when they are being executed in parallel systems. In particular, we proposed techniques in order to reduce the execution time of parallel join operations which are considered the most expensive operations on a DBMS. This study has also been focused on Streamed Data Processing. This work is the conclusion of the PhD thesis of Josep Aguilar-Saborit, which is available here.
